Baseball season is almost upon us, as spring training ends and the regular season gets into swing this weekend. So (at the risk of confusing our sports metaphors) to kick things off, Ford is introducing the F-150 MVP Edition. The special model pickup is all about Kansas City, where Ford has built the F-150 since 1957 and which returns to Major League Baseball this season as the defending champions. The last time the local team won the title (1985), the Blue Oval automaker made a special MVP edition Ranger. So at the suggestion of one local fan, Ford set about doing it again with KC celebrating its second world championship. The timing coincides with the announcement that the association of Midwest Ford Dealers renewed its sponsorship deal with the team. It's based on the XLT trim and comes with the (otherwise) optional chrome package. Buyers in the Kansas City area will be able to choose between either white or blue for the exterior paint, but either way it comes with polished rocker panels, a spray-in bedliner, and (of course) special badging. Given its MVP status, you'd expect it to be packed full of technology and stuff too, but that's more of a Chevy thing (the San Francisco Giants won the title that year, defeating the Royals in seven games). Only 300 F-150 MVPs will be made. |
